DuitNow and Bank Transfer at Malaysian Online Casinos
DuitNow and ordinary bank transfers are how most Malaysians move money into and out of online casinos. They are fast, familiar and work from any banking app. They also have one big risk that card payments do not: once you send money, it is gone, and if it went to the wrong person there is no chargeback. This guide explains the different DuitNow services, how casino deposits and withdrawals usually work, and the checks that keep your money and your bank account safe.
What DuitNow Is
DuitNow is Malaysia's national real-time payment system, run by PayNet and built into every major bank and e-wallet app. It is a payment rail, not a wallet: it moves money between accounts but does not hold a balance. It comes in three forms you will meet at a casino cashier:
| Service | How it works | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| DuitNow Transfer | Send to an account number or an ID such as a mobile number or MyKad number | A casino shows a bank account to pay into |
| DuitNow QR | Scan a QR code with your bank or e-wallet app | A payment page shows a QR to scan |
| DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets | You are sent to your bank's login page to approve a payment; it replaces FPX | A "pay with online banking" button |
DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets is the newer name for what used to be FPX; banks began moving customers to it in 2025, so you may see either label.
DuitNow vs Ordinary Bank Transfer
Instant transfers, including DuitNow, arrive within seconds at any hour. Interbank GIRO (IBG) transfers are processed in batches and can take hours or until the next working day. For casino deposits, an instant transfer is almost always what you want; IBG is mainly useful for large amounts above your instant-transfer limit.
How a Casino Deposit Usually Works
- In the casino cashier, choose bank transfer or DuitNow and enter the amount.
- The cashier shows a bank account, a DuitNow ID or a QR code, often from a payment gateway.
- Make the transfer from an account in your own name, and keep the reference number the casino asks for.
- Upload the receipt if asked, and wait for your balance to update.
Casino bank details often change. Some casinos, UWin33 among them, warn on the deposit page that their bank details change from time to time, so check them each time you deposit rather than saving an old account.
The Name Check That Protects You
Before you confirm a DuitNow transfer, your banking app shows the name registered to the receiving account. Read it. If it is a company name that matches the payment gateway or casino, that is normal. If it is a private person you have never heard of, stop and think: personal accounts used to collect gambling money are often mule accounts, rented out to syndicates.
You can search an account number or phone number on the Royal Malaysia Police's Semak Mule portal before sending money. A match is a clear reason to stop.
Withdrawals to Your Bank
Withdrawals go to a bank account in your own name, and the name must match your casino account exactly. Payouts can arrive from a company or from an account you do not recognise, which is common with offshore casinos. Keep your withdrawal records, and do not agree to receive or pass on money for anyone else; letting your account be used to move other people's money can get it frozen and can lead to criminal charges.
Limits, Fees and Timing
- Limits are set by your bank, usually as a daily online transfer limit you can adjust in your banking app.
- Fees depend on your bank and the service; check your bank's charges page.
- Timing: deposits by instant transfer are usually credited quickly once the casino matches your payment; withdrawals depend on the casino's approval time.
- No reversals: DuitNow and bank transfers cannot be pulled back like a card payment. Check the details before you send.
DuitNow vs E-Wallets
Many players use DuitNow QR from an e-wallet app, which can blur the difference. The wallet holds your money; DuitNow is only the rail that moves it. Wallets have their own limits and rules on cashing out to a bank, which our guide to Touch 'n Go, GrabPay and other casino e-wallets sets out.
